Chabot Museum

Museumparkvilla’s Tour

Six monumental, modernist villas, built entirely in modernist style, stand at the edge of the Museumpark. Well-known examples are th Chabot Museum (1938) and Huis Sonneveld (1933), two examples of het Nieuwe Bouwen – the modern architecture movement characterised by light, air, and space and the use of, at that time, new materials such as steel and concrete. More examples of this modernist movement can be found in Rotterdam, such as the Van Nelle Factory. Walk along with a guide from Urban Guides who will tell you about the history of this former Landgoed Van Hoboken, the Villa park and the architecture.
