Jonathas de Andrade, Procurando Jesus. Looking for Jesus, 2013

Lotte Reimann winner of the C.o.C.A. Commission

For Drapery Studies, Reimann dives into the archives of the French psychiatrist de Clérambault. His work hinged on the border of obsession. In part through an extensive study into hysteria with female silk fetishes and the endless recording of veiled women. Mirrored to contemporary examples of internet exhibitionists and veiling, Reimann explores changed social and political norms regarding power, embodiment and sexuality, in the middle between West and East.

Jonathas de Andrade, 2nd International Residency Programme a Tale of a Tub

Non-Western artists work in Spangen for a while and connect their artistic practices with the local context in which A Tale of a Tub operates. The Brazilian artist De Andrade focusses his atten- tion on personal histories against the background of a larger social- political reality. Using intimate stories, he sheds new light on social themes such as the ‘failed modernism’, cultural amnesia and representation issues.
